Last night, Variety reported the news that Batman v. Superman and Justice League star, Ben Affleck, will no longer direct the standalone Batman film that will feature the villain of Deathstroke, played by Joe Manganiello. Warner Bros. will continue to work creatively with Affleck and he will continue to play the Caped Crusader in further installments.
I was sad to hear this news considering Ben Affleck is one of the best directors working to date. Hope is still out there that an equally talented director will emerge, but fans everywhere are in shock and rage over the news. I believe they're jumping the gun doing so. While DC has had a hit and miss with critics with Suicide Squad, Batman v. Superman, and even Man of Steel, and news of the trouble with the production on The Flash solo film, our best hope now is Wonder Woman, who's film looks incredible and is a clear stand out from the rest of the DCEU. While it's doubtful we'll see Christopher Nolan return to the Bat Family, many talented filmmakers are working today and would do exceptional work. Who do you think will direct "The Batman"?
